Hey Friends!

welcome_back

Hey ya’ll!

I am sure some of you are wondering where the heck I have been over the past 6 months, well the answer is, right here.  I haven’t been in the right head space to blog about anything really.  I was so unhappy with my life and the direction that it was going that it started to seep into things that I loved.  It took my former figure skating coach, who happens to be my current friend/mentor/boss to point it out to me that I was in such a bad mood whenever I came to the rink that people didn’t want to talk to me.  At the time, and even now, I can’t tell you what the one main cause of that six month grinch spell was {if there was one main cause} – but I know that I am done with it.  Are the unhappy feelings still around? Sure.  Do I have to let them stop me from doing the things I want to do? Absolutely not.

So here we are, I am sitting in my home office watching snow fall {finally} in the mountains of Utah – excited to share and learn with you and from you!  Here’s what you can look forward too this week on Monograms & Mustard Greens – motivation, goal setting, new friends, new recipes, and new reads!

I am excited to be back to blogging and I hope you’ll come along on this journey with me!

Enough about me, how have you been the last 6 months?

Wellness Wednesday – Berry Spinach Smoothie

One of the reasons I started Monograms and Mustard Greens was to share my healthy recipes and activities that have helped me change my life.  One of these things has been switching my morning snack to a smoothie – packed with protein and greens {because you can’t eat too much spinach}.  This smoothie is so filling and is packed with vitamins and minerals.  It takes all of 10 minutes to make, and after you make it, you’ll be thanking yourself!

Saturday Morning Project – Ikea Kitchen Storage Repurposed

As I mentioned in the last post, I just finished a major remodel at my house.  My kitchen before the remodel had 3 total drawers none wide enough to hold a silverware organizer, so I “invested” in some of the pieces from the Ikea FINTORP collection – three rails and several buckets for silverware.

With the remodel complete I have more drawers and storage than I know what to do with, so the rails and buckets need repurposing, because as a good Southern girl {this time not referring to the geographic location but to my Great Grandfather who was extremely thrifty to say the least} I couldn’t just throw them away!

Saturday Morning Project: Cards to Decor

Saturday morning projects are quick and easy decorating or crafts that can be completed in an hour or less.  A quick creative burst to start your Saturday off right!

For the last few months, I have been going through a remodel of my condo.  The majority of the work is done thanks to my super handy father.  Check out the bed he made, as well as the fireplace, and dining room table.

Now I am down to some empty walls crying out for something to be hung on them.  The second floor bathroom and hallway were really crying out for some attention.  I was having a hard time coming up with prints that i really loved for the bathroom.  I knew I wanted to do some thing graphic and Southern, but I couldn’t find the right prints.
